Our School Values
Our Values and Foundations of Character are at the heart of everything we do at Dogmersfield School. They help us to live out our Christian Vision.
The Values and Foundations of Character we explore and strive to live by are:
The Value of Love
Our value of love describes what we believe to be of ultimate importance in life and underpins everything that we do. In our school this is described in terms of being one family, where each member is encouraged to love and respect themselves, others, God and the wider world. Love means treating others as you would want to be treated yourself and God encourages us to “Love thy Neighbour”, regardless of who they are.
And to all these qualities add love, which binds all things together in perfect unity. [Colossians 3:14]
Foundations of Character : Kind ~ Honest ~ Reflective
The Value of Courage
The value of courage describes how we should act as part of the world. We believe that Jesus has inspired us to be courageous and to stand up for what is right in all circumstances. We want the children to say ‘no’ when they are pressured to do something, have the courage to stick at a task even when it is hard and have the courage to stand by their beliefs.
Remember that I have commanded you to be determined and confident! Do not be afraid or discouraged, for I, the Lord your God, am with you wherever you go. [Joshua 1:9]
Foundations of Character: Resilient ~ Creative ~ Resourceful
The Value of Respect
Our value of respect describes the ethos that we want to underpin our community. We want the children to respect one another, respect themselves, to show tolerance and respect to other people’s beliefs in the wider community and to respect God.
Treat others as you would want them to treat you (Matthew 7:12)
Foundations of Character: Empathetic ~ Authentic ~ Mindful
